Pethers Rainforest Retreat is located in the Gold Coast Hinterland at Tamborine Mountain.  The resort is set amongst natural rainforest within easy access of nine national parks.  Pethers is an ecotourism resort - the seclusion and natural beauty of the rainforest has been protected throughout its development.

The Waterpac Australia wastewater treatment system installed was the Commercial Mark II - it is rated at 20EP (20 person equivalent).  Minimal environmental impact occurred as a result of the installation of the wastewater system - only three trees were disturbed.  The system uses a combination of Waterpac Australia's patented self-cleaning UV technology and sand filters to produce high quality treated wastewater.  No chemicals are used and the environmental integrity of the surrounding area remains intact.  The treated wastewater is used for subsurface irrigation.  The system is unobtrusive and has merged with the natural landscape such that many people are unaware of its existence.

The potable (drinking) water system installed also utilised Waterpac Australia's patented self-cleaning UV technology and filtration to provide very high quality purified water - with a bacteria kill-rate of 99.999%.

Pethers Rainforest Retreat was opened by the then Australian Prime Minister John Howard on Friday 6th September 2002 at a ceremony attended by various political representatives and business people.  Director of Waterpac Australia, Mr Ken Bryer, attended the opening ceremony.
